Recycle for Nottinghamshire
This website is intended to tell you everything you need to know about recycling in Nottinghamshire.
It is owned and maintained by Nottinghamshire County Council on behalf of partners Ashfield District Council, Bassetlaw District Council, Broxtowe Borough Council, Mansfield District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Veolia Environmental Services.
All these partners are currently working together to provide consistent messages about recycling in the county following the opening of a new Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). This facility, near Mansfield, is now used to process all of the items you put in your household recycling bin; up to 85,000 tonnes each year from all over the county. These materials are sorted before being bulked up and sent on to other facilities for them to make new products.
However, with the opening of the new facility, contamination levels in the household recycling bins needs to be reduced. Otherwise, small amounts of contamination - when the wrong thing is put in your recycling bin - can lead to whole loads being affected and sent to landfill.
