Are you Bin Smart?
The County Council and six of the district councils, and Veolia Environmental Services, are working together to deliver a countywide publicity campaign.
The campaign will confirm what materials you can put in your recycling bin, with the aim of reducing levels of contamination in the recyclable waste stream.
This will help to maximise recycling rates in advance of the new Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) opening early next year, as part of the Nottinghamshire Waste PFI Contract.
The campaign consists of four key elements:
- Information packs - these will be delivered to every household in the County (excluding Nottingham City). Each pack will include a booklet explaining the need for the campaign and information about what you can put in your recycling bin. There will also be a handy 'reminder card' for a fridge, freezer or pinboard!
- recycle for Nottinghamshire website - this website has also been created to tell you more about the campaign. After this it will still be the place to find out all you will ever need to know about waste and recycling in Nottinghamshire.
- Press advertising - look out for adverts placed in local newspapers across the County to support the campaign.
- Events - there will be six public events held across the County to promote the campaign. These are a great opportunity to find out more, ask that nagging question and pick up a bag full of free recycling goodies. Find out about your local event.
This campaign will enable the County Council and the district councils involved to deliver consistent recycling messages across the County.
You should receive your information pack by the end of November.
