Recycle for Nottinghamshire

The County Council, District Councils and Veolia working together in partnership

Why recycle?...the possibilities are endless!

Recycling our waste enables the materials to be used over and over again, reducing the need to use virgin raw materials such as metals and oil. This protects our natural environment and improves the landscape as it reduces the need for quarrying, mining and logging, as well as reducing the need for landfills.

Producing products using recycled materials also uses less energy than using raw materials.

Additionally the waste sent to landfill produces Methane, a greenhouse gas, which contributes to global warming. So by recycling more and reduing the need for landfill you are also helping to tackle global warming!

Most everyday products that we use e.g. cardboard boxes, drinks cans and shampoo bottles can be recycled into other products. In fact, it is estimated that 60% of what we throw away could be recycled.
